Khurram Sheikh of Powerwave Technologies to Participate in ''Evolution of the Mobile Phone and Wireless Industry'' Panel at TiE

WHAT: Khurram P. Sheikh, chief product and development officer for Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global supplier of wireless infrastructure solutions, will participate in a panel on the topic of “Evolution of the Mobile Phone and Wireless Industry,” at the San Diego chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE) monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 25.

Email, web surfing, MP3 player and text messaging have become ubiquitous features on cell phones. Among other things, consumers are now also using these devices to purchase goods in the market, shoot DVD-quality video, store and read books, navigate using GPS functionality, as a link to home security cameras, to support keyless entry, as a remote control device, and watch high quality television programming.

During this session, Sheikh will join Mark Kelley, Chief Technology Officer for NextWave Network Products; Luis Pineda, senior vice president, Marketing & Product Management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies; and Byung K Yi, senior vice president, LG Electronics in addressing the following:

  • What are the drivers that are changing the way consumers use cell phones?
  • What are the revenue models that will leverage these new features?
  • What are the coming generations of technologies and how will they enable these features?
  • How will the consumer buying process and pricing models change in the US and globally over the next five years, particularly for consumers who buy cell phones from service providers?
  • What will service providers do to meet competitive challenges?

Anil Kripalani, president, WirefreeCom Inc. will moderate the panel.
